Our first Market was held in 1988. We only utilized half of the ballroom of the Civic Center, but it was a rousing success. The market has grown and expanded through the years but has maintained the unique
traditions of Christmas handed down from our German ancestors while staying true to the market mission of benefitting the Sophienburg Museum & Archives.

Weihnachtsmarkt (Vy-noks-markt) is the largest Sophienburg Museum & Archives fundraiser, furthering our mission of Creating Connections and Enriching Lives through the Power of History. All proceeds go to support museum operations and educational programming.
